The UN has revised its refugee guidelines, suggesting that due to decreased violence in Iraq, each refugee application should now be considered on a case by case basis. However, they note that the provinces of Kirkuk and Nineveh are not safe enough to return to, and this is where most Assyrians are located.
the UN in my opinion is not helping. my uncle has been in syria for 4yrs, he has sponsored by my mother, and relatives. but they ignore him and dont help. he cant go back to iraq, his life was threatened for being a christian. if he goes back to iraq they will kill him. he has stated this several times to the UN, and no one pay attention. this piece was very touching. we the assyrian are suffering more than anyone during the iraq war. keep up the excellent work.
